This is the complete rebuild of a roof on a 300 year old property in France using traditional materials including oak beams and hand made clay tiles. The project took about 3 months to complete with 2 people working on it almost full time.

El tapial es una técnica de construcción de muros con tierra compactada a golpes dentro de un molde de madera. Hace 30 años que Hilario Artigas, en su pueblo Agüero decidió construir una caseta de campo con adobes y tapial. Gracias a su amabilidad pudimos recoger los secretos de esta técnica tradicional de construcción.

One man leaves the city life behind to build a cheap off grid log cabin and homestead in the Canadian wilderness, including a log home, an outdoor kitchen, an outhouse, a woodshed and a sauna bathhouse. Building mostly with hand tools, Shawn James harvests building materials from the forests north of Toronto, Canada and crafts them into functional tools and shelters using traditional woodworking tools and methods. He practices bushcraft and survival skills every day, including fire starting, tree identification and harvesting, wild edible foraging, fishing, hunting, camping in the summer and winter, travelling by canoe and snowshoe, navigation and water collection and purification.
Continue watching in 2019 as Shawn finishes the sauna, plants a forest garden for fruit and vegetables, builds an underground root cellar, ice house and cheese cave, a timber frame workshop and a remote hunt camp closer to fish and game.

Its one year since I started this journey of building my off grid log cabin, which was a dream of mine since I was a kid and last October 2018 I decided and took the courage to start with this huge build by myself. Since then I came a long way, working in every weather imaginable, seeing many amazing sunsets and overcoming every obstacle in order to have the log cabin as it is now. I documented most of my work and put all of the best moments into this 2 hour documentary. I think I have another year to completely finish the house, but Im more than happy whit what Ive done so far. This bench is totally made from wooden waste which I found at home.
I like the beauty of autumn leaves, so I decided to keep the autumn colors alive by making this «Autumn leaves bench».
I dried up all leaves before pouring the epoxy resin.
I spent a lot of time for this project but I am happy with outcome.
